NorCal Eats: Burger Me!

I can only assume you have all heard about a little show called Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network. If you haven’t, the show follows celebrity chef Guy Fieri around the U.S. as he visits local favorites. It has been years since I have seen the episode that included Burger Me! in Truckee, CA, but I always kept it in the back of my mind as a place I wanted to try during a visit to the mountains. During a most recent trip, I finally made it happen…here is what we ordered:

Burgers

It was such a hard decision to pick two burgers for my husband and I to split. I pretty much wanted to try everything from the Gyro Burger (lamb patty, feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, mixed greens, tomato, and onion), to the Train Wreck (hamburger patty, onion ring, chili, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg), and why not throw in a BBQ Bison Burger (bison patty, bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and BBQ sauce) while we’re at it. However I knew my eyes were being bigger than my stomach, so, we narrowed it down to the Elk Burger, and the Veggie Burger.

NorCal Eats: True Food Kitchen (TBT)

As some of you may have seen on social media, I had oral surgery earlier this week which has kept me laying low (and not worrying too much about blog content) However, I figured this would be a perfect time to post [another] Throwback Thursday post to hold you over.

This was my review of True Food Kitchen in Walnut Creek, CA, last summer. Unfortunately we moved a little further away recently and can’t visit as much as I would like to. Honestly, to this day, I still crave their breakfast burrito (as described below)

I want to start by saying I had my reservations about True Food Kitchen. When I first heard this new eatery was being added to the updated, posh-like, Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, CA, I assumed it was one of those “fad” places. Somewhere I didn’t feel like I needed to bother trying. Although the upscale attitude of it’s surroundings were a fair observation, we were in the vicinity, hungry, and figured we would give it a go.
