This Is Whole30: Week Two Update

Today is day fifteen; the official halfway point! Is it only downhill from here? I would like to say so however, it was only last night that I was contemplating throwing in the towel just so I could have a scoop of ice cream.

In my defense, it has been an emotional week and in the past I would numb myself with all the junk food I could get my hands on. Surprisingly, I didn’t give in. Part of this was because I write down how each day goes, and what I ate in the Whole30 Day by Day journal. I also have to send screen shots of my day to my nutritional therapist and I know that if I made a conscious “slip up” she would not be pleased (I am not intimated by many but I don’t really want to piss her off!)

This Is Whole30: Week One Update

What is Whole30? Whole30 is a nutritional program designed to help you redesign your relationship with food. A lot of food items we consume on a daily basis have huge potential to cause major inflammation within our bodies (ex. gluten, legumes, sugar [real and artificial]) This 30 day guide eliminates those foods and teaches you how to eat real  food.

I emphasized “real” because I know I personally indulged in too many things that had ingredients lists as long as your arm, and additives I have never even heard of! It is a nice change to consume foods with either very limited ingredients on their label, or no label at all (fruits and vegetables)

Just Because

Why I Stopped Labeling My Diet

It has taken me almost two weeks to compose this blog post. As I sat here staring at the screen, I kept writing, and re-writing sentences in hopes to present the final product all wrapped up in a bow. But then I caught myself. I was writing what I thought people wanted to hear. I was carefully wording things so that I wouldn’t be judged for my difference of opinion. See, this subject (diet/labeling your diet) is quite a sensitive one. Mainly because I know I may lose followers, and maybe even some friends, by being honest about what I am choosing to eat, or not eat. Sounds silly, right? Trust me, I know! To better explain, I feel a little back story is in order…
