New Year’s Lush Haul

For those unfamiliar with Lush, it is a handmade cosmetic company that prides themselves on using the freshest ingredients. They also only use 100% vegetarian ingredients (with 80% of their products being vegan friendly) and they never test on animals. Another attribute of Lush is their mission to lessen the amount of waste they produce by offering 35% of their products package free (or “naked”, as they like to call it) and those items that are packaged, such as lotion and scrubs, come in recycled, and recyclable materials.

Lush offers quality products at decent prices. Sure, some of it may seem pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Below are a few items I ordered after the holidays; some were new to me, and some were old favorites.

Ocean Salt (face & body scrub)

Imagine taking that first sip of a classic margarita with the tradition coarse sea-salted rim; that taste, is what Lush’s Ocean Salt face and body scrub smells like. It is fresh, with a punch of lime, and the wisp of salt that you get from a breezy day at the beach.

This was not the first time I have tried Ocean Salt. A couple years back, I received it as part of a birthday gift from my best friend. I was new to the Lush way of life; at this point, I had only enjoyed a bath bomb, “butterball” from what I can remember, as a gift for the Christmas prior. Ocean salt, however, had me hooked! After a few uses, I went to Lush’s website and browsed all of their products for ones I thought I would get the most use out of, and before I knew it, I was a lushie (according to Urban Dictionary, that’s a thing!)

My only complaint about this scrub, is that sometimes the sea salt can be a little rough on my skin, almost scratch it, but this could also be operator error. No matter what, this product always leaves my skin feeling refreshed and extremely soft.

Sympathy For The Skin (body lotion)

Sympathy For The Skin is another purchase from this haul that I had used before. I had run out right before the holidays and felt like I was going through withdrawals. With a blend of vanilla, cocoa butter, fresh bananas, and other wonderful ingredients, this product smells like melted vanilla ice cream! How can you not love that?!

If you are a lover of vanilla, you definitely have to give this lotion a try. Sympathy For The Skin, soothes and soften your skin, and I personally don’t have one negative thing to say about it.

Sleepy (body lotion)

In the last few months, I have become rather fond of the scent of lavender. Partly because I struggle with being over-stressed, over-anxious, and have a lot of trouble falling asleep. And although I believe in modern medicine, I also believe that there are many natural, or more holistic approaches, to remedy my ailments. Sleepy has been a welcome addition to my nightly routine.

The scent of lavender is extremely comforting and lingers for hours before bedtime. It doesn’t hurt that the lotion itself is a beautiful light purple color and leaves your skin feeling silky and relaxed.

This may have been the first time I have purchased Sleepy, but it definitely won’t be my last!

Twilight & The Big Sleep (bath bombs)

I’ve never been one for baths until I was gifted my first bath bomb as a Christmas gift, a couple years ago (“butterball” – as mentioned above) After that experience I knew I had to see what other bath bombs Lush had to offer, and which would best suit my needs. I have always had trouble relaxing, and falling/staying asleep (also mentioned above) so that was my main search criteria for my first bath bomb purchase. I came across “twilight” (pink) and “the big sleep” (blue)

I would love to get into all the wonderful details about each product, however, I have yet to use them. For now, I can say they both smell amazing, with lavender being the prominent scent in both items.

With my new goal being to practice more self-love, and self-care, I’m sure I will be testing both of these out very soon.

Bonus: Outback Mate (soap)

image1 (3)What I love about ordering from Lush is they always sneak in a little sample, or two, of other products they offer. This time around I received a piece of their Outback Mate soap bar. This is another item from my haul I have not had a chance to use, however, it smells amazing. A very invigorating mix of eucalyptus, peppermint, and a hint of citrus. I am a big fan of peppermint in my soaps/body washes, so I am really looking forward to giving this a try.

Whether you’re new to Lush products, or an avid lushie who hasn’t tried any of the above items, go to your nearest Lush location, or browse online for them, and much more! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
